Brian Parks (drums, vocals, guitar, mbira) adds the thunder to the songs. A vocalist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Northern California, he studied traditional music from Zimbabwe for 14 years, which has deeply influenced his style of playing drums and guitar. Prior to joining the band with Ayla, Brian toured writemyessayfast.co.uk internationally in bands and as a solo artist, sharing the stage with artists such as The Tallest Man on Earth, Jose Gonzales, and Little Dragon. He also composes songs under his project Grandfather Gold.
Lydia Violet (violin, vocals) is a magical gypsy who brings the rivering strings to the band. Lydia grew up in Princeton, NJ, where she began her classical violin training at age 3. Her fifteen years of intensive music training has led to an ability for improvisation on almost any music genre, whether gypsy jazz, soul funk, Tennessee bluegrass, or cinematic arrangements. In addition to playing with Ayla and the band, Lydia is also a voice for ecological justice, and leads the project ‘Music as Medicine in Our Planet-Time,’ a workshop which helps others to come together and negotiate the current crises and opportunities facing our world community.
Amelia Rae (piano, vocals, harp) is a wild note on the keys that cradle each melody. She began playing music when she was 6 years old, trained classically as well as self-taught. She then began composing her own music when she was 15, and has recently released two singles which you can find below.
